JOB DESCRIPTION


  • The IT Intern will be involved in researching and analysis for projects. In addition, the IT Intern will help with the design coding and performance analysis in the development of web applications. The IT Intern will also be involved with large scale testing and production implementations for web applications. The IT Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in departmental meetings within the department to gain better knowledge of the operations.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reports to senior member of the MSC technical team
  • Document business requirements and functional specifications for applications
  • Develop web based and mobile applications utilizing technologies such as Java, Javascript, cURL, Perl, PHP, HTML and XML.
  • Monitor Performance and security of web applications.
  • Analyze performance and security issues and recommend remediation
  • Configure CI/CD tools for developing an auditable and automated change management process.
  • Evaluate tools that can improve developer productivity and efficiency.
  • Performs testing for application changes
  • Assists with code migrations and post production support
  • Gain industry and organizational knowledge through daily business interactions and job assignments.
  • Supports assigned manager with project work.
  • Presents intern project results to IT leaders.
  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC’s mission.
  • Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma required.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • IT work experience a plus
SKILLS:
  • Proficient user of Productivity Tools (Email, Spreadsheets etc…) and Web Browser software required.
  • Course curriculum in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent technical discipline required.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills required.
  • Positive, high-energy approach to assignments and a willingness to learn required.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux scripting preferred.
  • Familiarity with programming concepts desired.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • A valid state driver’s license may be required.
